The most important page on this website for understanding what we are and what we are not.

We are not a medical provider
Your Care Promise is a healthcare navigation and coordination service. We coordinate care and we move information between you, the clinicians treating you, and your own doctor.
We do not practise medicine. We do not diagnose. We do not prescribe. We do not provide treatment, nursing, physiotherapy or any other clinical service. We do not operate a hospital or a clinic.
Your own doctor remains your doctor
At every stage, including during the ninety days after you return home, the clinician responsible for your medical care is your own treating doctor, licensed in the country where you live. Nothing we do transfers that responsibility to us, and nothing we do replaces the relationship between you and them.
We strongly encourage you to involve your own doctor in any decision about treatment abroad, before you travel.
What the independent second opinion is, and is not
The independent second opinion is a written review of your medical records by qualified specialists. It is provided as information, for you and your own treating doctor to consider.
It is not a diagnosis. It is not a prescription. It is not a treatment plan you should act on without your own doctor. It is not a substitute for being examined in person.
The specialists reviewing your case have not examined you physically. Some clinical questions genuinely cannot be answered from records alone, and where that limits an opinion we will say so rather than work around it.
Our medical director does not treat you
Dr Gunjan Patel is our co-founder and medical director. Her role is to make sure the right clinical question is put to the independent specialists, that your records are complete enough to answer it, and that the findings are explained to you in language you can understand.
She does not diagnose you, does not prescribe for you, does not write the independent opinion, and does not make decisions about your treatment. She is not acting as your treating physician and no doctor and patient relationship is created between you.
Information on this website
Everything published on this website is general information about how our service works and what questions are worth asking. None of it is medical advice about your own situation, and none of it should be relied on to make a decision about your health.
Where a page carries a medical review byline, that means a clinician has checked it for accuracy. It does not make it advice about your case. Where a page carries no byline, it has not yet been clinically reviewed and says so.
Outcomes cannot be guaranteed
No one can guarantee the outcome of any medical treatment, and we never will. Surgery and medical treatment carry risks, including serious ones, wherever in the world they are performed and by whoever performs them.
Clinical outcomes are the responsibility of the clinicians and institutions providing your treatment. We are accountable for the quality of our coordination, the honesty of the information we give you, and the completeness of the handover we prepare.
Emergencies
This website and our service are not for emergencies. If you are unwell and it feels urgent, contact your local emergency services or go to your nearest emergency department immediately. Do not wait for a reply from us. We are a coordination service operating in Indian Standard Time and we cannot respond to a medical emergency.
Costs and prices
Every treatment cost figure anywhere on this website or in our communications is an estimate, unless it is explicitly labelled as a written quote obtained from a named hospital for your named case. Estimates can and do change.
Third parties
Hospitals, surgeons, specialists, airlines, hotels and other providers involved in your journey are independent of us. We do not employ them and we do not control their clinical or commercial decisions. We select and recommend, and we do so without taking any payment from any of them.

Speak to a doctor first, and go to emergency care if it is urgent. Then tell us what has happened. We would rather hear about a problem early and be honest with you about whether we can help, than find out about it later.
